Don't force your children
The activities or play give give to our children should interest the children. We should not force the children to do an activity thought it is good for them. And the activities, which we allow the children to do, should be able to be completed by the children successfully. If the children complete the activity successfully, self-esteem will be developed in them. On the other hand if they are unable to complete, their self-esteem will be damaged, they will be frustrated and they start to misbehave themselves.
Some parents put their unfulfilled childhood wishes on their children's head like a burden. These parents don't think whether their children have interest or they can do it.

Communicating
Here are some messages which were given by a mother to her children. Can you say which of them are clear and possitive?
"Nice boys don't spit on others."
"Tim, spit into your mouth."
"Good boys don't play with knives."
"Keep the knife on the table. If you play with it, you get hurt."
"Clean up time. Hurry up."
"Pick up the waste papers and put them into the bin."
"What a mad thing you have done?"
"Take a paper towel and wipe your hand."
Here the messages in thick letters are clear and possitive. Children may find it difficult to understand what are meant by these words: Good boys/girls, nice boys/girls, made thing, rude thing and clean up time. If you start your message with an action part like pick up, keep it, take, put and go they grasp them easily and obey you. if you train yourself to speak like this you will get a good communication skill.

Choice giving
Children like to be given choices. That is good for them. here you can see how children are given choices.
1. "What do you like to drink, Orange juice or apple juice?"
2. "Jill after the dinner I can read a story for you. What do you like to hear, a fantacy or a science fiction?"
3. "Kathi, it is raining outside. Do you want to take an umbrella?"
4. "Tim, it is lunch time. Do you want to have lunch?"
5. "Alex, with what colour you are going to paint this picture?"
6. "Tobias, I have not enough money. Do you want to buy this toy?"
All of you can understand the sentences in blue colour are not suitable give as choices. If it is raining outside Kathi should take the umbrella. There is nothing to choose. If it is lunch time Tim should have lunch with others. If the mother has not enough money to buy the toy, it is not a good idea to ask Tobias whether he likes the toy.

Demonstrating
"Tim how many times I told you to clean your teeth properly," shouted Tim's mother.
"Mummy I have cleaned my teeth properly," replied seven year old Tim who took less than one minute to clean his teeth.
Tim's sister Sare, who also wanted to clean her teeth, called Tim to the wash room. She gave Tim's bursh to him and took hers also. Then she press tooth-paste on both brushes and, started to bursh her teeth properly. Tim observed Sara and followed her. As Sara demonstrated how to clean the teeth, Tim find it easy to follow his sister.
Yes, demonstrating is a good method to guide your child.
